Wikis are all the rage, but what really is a wiki?

From Wikipedia.org (the mother of all wikis), a wiki is defined as:"A wiki is a type of Web site that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change some available content, sometimes without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for collaborative authoring".

Examples of wikis:

#I kept some bad kids occupied today with wikis, this is how I did it: PickleHead

#Family Mayhew Family

#Questions and Answers: FaqFarm

#Obituaries: JamesBrown

#Local Government Pownal Local Govt.

#Business: SmallBusiness.com

#Intranet: CoWorking
